The 10th Edition of the International Student Scientific Symposium – Arboretum Sylva, Gurahonț | May 8, 2025
The Department of Forestry and Forest Engineering within the Faculty of Environmental Protection – University of Oradea successfully organized the 10th edition of the international student symposium, themed: “Sustainable Forest Resource Management – An Economic, Social, and Cultural Responsibility.” The event brought together 125 participants – students, faculty members, and distinguished guests – in a remarkable natural setting, at the Arboretum Sylva educational facility in Gurahonț.
In the first part of the day, participants toured the park and planted 11 conifer trees, actively contributing to the collection of valuable tree species. The second part of the event was held at the Gurahonț Cultural Center, where 23 student scientific papers were presented, followed by meaningful discussions on the future of our forests. Among the special guests was Lecturer Dr. Eng. Mihai Enescu (USAMV Bucharest & Plantăm fapte bune în România), who offered valuable insights on the symposium’s theme.
This edition also marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Forestry specialization in Oradea – an important milestone for our academic community!
